The History

Groos Cottage: In 1905, Henry Groos built his home on the property where it remains today. The cottage includes 642 square feet of main floor, one bedroom, 1 bath, living area, and 642 square feet of basement area with exterior access. In 2017, the home was placed on the Bainbridge Island Historic Register. The home has now been carefully restored with plumbing, electrical, heating, insulation, appliances, cabinets, and roofing, while maintaining the original character of the property including the original fir hardwood floors.

Westberg Residence: In 2019 the Westberg Residence, previously located across the street at 382 Wyatt Way Northeast, became available. Built by G.W. Westberg in 1910, the 2,030 square foot home was relocated to Groos Lane in 2020. The home is now fully restored with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, and a 446 square foot finished basement with exterior access was added. Some of the new improvements include plumbing, electrical, heating, insulation, windows, roofing, cabinets, and appliances. As with the Groos Cottage, the original fir hardwood floors were revitalized and supplemented.
